“Your ‘frog’ is your biggest, most important task, the one you are most likely to procrastinate on if you don’t do something about it. It is also the one task that can have the greatest positive impact on your life and results at the moment.”

Eat That Frog p.2

So for this week at Amal, we were tasked with a goal of overcoming procrastination and that was made possible through a quick 25 minute exercise with bunch of tasks to complete within the week!

As far the exercise goes, we had to decide on one task that we were having trouble with in terms of time management and set up a timer for 25 minutes with with some breaks afterwards. So it began, the timer was set and my fingers typing away on the keyboard.

As far as the experience goes, it was very productive since I was under the pressure set by the timer. It really helped me focus more and whatever distractions came up, I wrote them on a piece of paper. I followed the same routine once more to complete my task carefully. Taking a 5 minute break after the first timer, helped me relax and bit after the completion of 70% of the task at hand.

Following this routine helped me put my maximum in a shorter time frame, otherwise it would have taken me a lot of time to complete the task at hand.

Going through the whole pomodoro technique, its something that can be use regularly. I for one would be using this regularly for all tasks at hand given how it helps complete tasks timely. I will set up a reward system for me for those 5 minute breaks in the form of things that i really enjoy eating eg: sweets or chocolates.

Going over the pomodoro technique,it helped me realize how much little distractions can accumulate into a lot of time wasted. Its truly irresistible to not fall for the procrastination monkey and fall victim to the demon.
